February 12, 2009 Update

Nathan turned 7 weeks old (36 weeks) on Tuesday. His feeding tube has been removed for good!!! He looks so great without anything on his face. On Wednesday, he had his first Synagis shot for RSV. He also started on an 'ad lib demand' schedule; meaning he gets to eat whenever he wants and how much he wants instead of a fixed feeding schedule which was 8:00, 11:00, 2:00, 5:00 am/pm at 50 mLs of milk. Another step getting ready for home.

Nathan is doing so well and gets to come home soon if he maintains good breathing and heart rate. Today he weighs 6 lbs 3.2 ozs. He’s getting so heavy and noisier too. His noises and cries are at a higher volume than before but we love to hear him.

Here are some fun pictures from Tuesday at 7 weeks.

Yippie, my feeding tube is gone!

Let's get out of this joint! My cheeks are a little red from the tape on my face that was holding my feeding tube in place.

Mommy being clever with the camera (one handed while holding me after nursing).

His completed poster on the windowed door to his room at the hospital.

  1. Oh my gosh Nicky--Nathan looks so good! I am so happy that he is doing so well. I remember the car seat test and also the circumcision like it was yesterday when the boys did it. I didn't stay for the procedure either. I waited for my doctor to come in and then I left and waited in the lobby. I am so glad that he is getting the Synagis shots as well. That RSV is so scary! It is so nice because once you get home the Home Health Nurse will come to your house to give it to him. That way you don't have to take him into the Dr.'s office and expose him to other sicknesses. Let me know if you need anything! When you get home and settled I would love to come over and meet your sweet little miracle!
