After a couple days of organizing, planning, and packing for our first overnight trip with Nathan, we drove to Columbus, NE to visit my family for the weekend (March 27-29). There were a few special events that took place that weekend: celebrated Mommy’s 29th birthday, attended a baby shower for Nathan hosted by Grandpa Campbell (Joan), and Nathan meet his Great Grandparents (Dale and June Nelson) for the first time.
Nathan did really well in the car. He slept all the way until we arrived to Omaha. Isaac needed to make a stop at Canfields so it actually worked out perfect that he woke up to eat then. I fed him in the parking lot while Isaac was in the store. The rest of the journey to Columbus went fine too. He was a very good traveler.
It was a nice and relaxing weekend even though it was a lot of work to get to this point. I was surprised how long it took me to pack items for Nathan for our home away from home and I was being practical too (not packing everything under the sun for him).
Uncle Tyler and Uncle Brandon held Nathan for the first time. It was fun to see their reaction. They never held a baby before.
