Nathan loves helping me bake star cookies each year at Christmas time. His favorite part is rolling the dough into balls, covering them with sugar and placing them on cookie sheets! This has become a fun family tradition in our home.
The Hy-Vee Children's Christmas theme this year was Polar Express. There were real reindeer that greeting us at the door!!! Nathan got to pet one! There were donuts and hot chocolate treats. The 'Polar Express' movie was playing in the background while the kiddos could do a variety of crafts. Nathan made a reindeer ornament and gingerbread house with lots of frosting. Nana and Papa were in town for the weekend so they joined us.
Nathan is reading chapter books at school this year. We purchased a book series of 'The Magic Treehouse' so we could continue reading at home. It's so fun to snuggle on the couch together or lay by the fireplace while he reads a couple chapters at a time. We hope he grows into loving books like is parents!
On December 16th Nathan had is first sleep over...sleep over party in fact! Nathan invited his best friend Levi to celebrate his birthday with pizza, ice cream cake, watching Monsters University movie while eating popcorn and Twizzlers, and sleeping in sleeping bags! It was cute to watch them enjoy the movie on the couch together wearing their pajamas and snuggling with a stuffed animal. It was fun to see them look through books while they wound down for the night in their sleeping bags. The boys ended up passing out around 11pm that night. Yikes!
Nathan's 8th birthday is here! We enjoyed family time with just the three of us on his actual birthday. This was the first day of winter break so Nathan was able to open his gifts in the morning so he could enjoy them all day long. It was great having Dad home from work too! His Lego Ninjago dragon set and PS4 game 'Plants versus Zombies' turned out to be great hits! Here are a few pictures to enjoy from his special day.
Our family ended up having a double dose of Christmas celebrating. We visited both sides of the family. The Wiese family was together for a nice dinner in Omaha on Christmas Eve. Nathan loved playing with his cousins. He played so hard that he ended up blowing a hole in the knee of his pants! Below are Grandma and Papa enjoying their gift from us.
We spent Christmas Day with the Campbell's in Columbus! Uncle Brandon was home on break so Nathan liked spending some time with him. We had another delicious Christmas dinner and had fun decorating sugar cookies (another family tradition). Luckily Santa found us in Nebraska!
