May 2016 Highlights:
Tree pollen season still affects Nathan to a degree. He continues to take allergy shots every two to three weeks. The prescription eye drops seem to keep things under control which is a blessing.
Here is Nathan and Mom on Mother's Day - our special day together.
We had our family photos taken by Amanda Taborga again, this year in Minburn. Nathan is such a goofball....and you'll see why below.
Getting into summer weather Nathan was wearing size 7X shirts and size 7 shorts. His shoes are size 2. This kid is going to outgrow his mama!
For Memorial weekend, Uncle Brandon flew in from Washington and stayed at our house along with Nana and Papa Campbell. We had a nice weekend together as a family.

Nathan finally overcame his nail biting habit. It was a long and rough six months but he did it! His reward was getting an Ozobot robot. Not only is this cute little robot fun to play with, it's also a learning tool by creating different codes to maneuver the robot. Nathan made a fun map for his robot to travel on and do different movements.
Our first big family vacation took place this month. We had an amazing time in San Diego, California! There were a lot of firsts for Nathan during this vacation: airplane traveling, being in the ocean/playing on the beach, and going on a boat ride...and getting to pilot the boat! Here are just a few pictures from our wonderful family vacation together.

While we were on vacation Nathan decided that he wants to call us Mom and Dad now. There are days sometimes when I look at Nathan and he just looks older; you can just tell that he is getting bigger and acting more mature. Sniff, sniff! Our little boy is growing up.
During Father's Day weekend we went to see "Finding Dory" at the movie theatre. Here is Nathan and Dad on their special day together.
Silly Mom Moment: On the 20th this month I drove past where Nathan was going to daycare for the summer. I didn't even realize that I did this until Nathan piped up in the backseat "Wait! That's where I go!". He was all concerned like I couldn't turn around to go back. His reaction made me laugh. [Since I'm writing this post summer; to this day Nathan likes to remind me that I ended up doing this several times over the summer months.]
July 2016 Highlights:
We spent our 4th of July celebration in Omaha with Grandma and Papa Wiese. We went to a baseball game together. The ballpark put on a mouth dropping firework show that night. Nathan loved making snakes and running around with back yard with sparklers. He also really enjoyed playing in the pond at his grandparents house too. Nathan's such a boy - give him a stick and some water and he's thrilled.
At the dinner table on July 11th Isaac and I let Nathan know that I will be staying home starting October this year; that I will no longer be working outside the home. Nathan was so excited to hear this news from us. He got up from his chair and gave me a big hug and smile. Just in case there was any confusion with this new information he received, we made sure that he understood that he still had to go to school. :)'
Another evening at the dinner table, I was having a conversation with Isaac about how I need to start working out again because I wasn't happy with my weight. Nathan pipes into the conversation and said to me " You're not skinny or fat. You are perfect!" That brought happy tears to my eyes.
Nathan had a big accomplishment this month. He overcame his nerves and fear and learned how to ride his bicycle without training wheels. He was so determined to accomplish this life long skill and it only took him four days to do it! Dad did an amazing job helping Nathan up on his bike as he learned his balance. I tried a couple times to give Dad a break but I was not strong enough to hold the bike up or run quick enough as Nathan peddled. What an amazing job Nathan (and Dad)! Nathan's reward was a trip to the bike store to get a few accessories for his bike. He chose a light for the front and back of his bike, riding gloves, and a little bag for under his seat. Way to go Nathan!
It is my duty as Mom to even post embarrassing activities/events for Nathan to discover later in life when he reads his blog (I hope). Nathan was over at his best friend's house to play at the end of this month and he told me when we returned home that he peed outside in the woods. [Gasp!] This was a first and I'm sure it's not going to be the last. Oh boy!
August 2016 Highlights:
On August 12th we had to say our goodbyes to our oldest cat Tigger after 14 great years. This was Nathan's first experience loosing a pet and he did really well considering. We made it through with lots of hugs, kisses and talking.
On the 19th this month Nathan had his seven year well child checkup. He weighed in at 57 pounds and measured at 4 feet 4 inches tall. He is 86th percentile in height and 61st percentile in weight. We have a tall and skinny but healthy boy!
One night Nathan had called me up to his bedroom right after we said good night to each other. He wanted me there with him because he said he was afraid that he was going to turn into a pickle! Really? So hilarious! I'm pretty sure he just wanted company instead of trying to go to sleep for the night. Silly boy!
Nathan's first day of second grade was on the 25th. He was anxious to go to school that morning. He was excited to have his new shoes color coordinate his new Spiderman back pack and matching lunch bag. When we asked him how his day was after school his reply was one word "Perfect!".
September 2016 Highlights:
It was a double dose of grandparents for Labor Day weekend. We had Nana and Papa over at our house. We also spent some time with Grandma and Papa too! As always, fun family time together goes by so quickly. There were lots of laughs with our silly boy making funny faces while playing with Play D'oh.
Nathan lost his first baby molar this month while in school. They put his tooth in a tiny plastic orange treasure chest. Adorable! It had been just dangling there but he was relentless to not let me touch it. This is also the famous tooth that sent us to the orthodontist because I was afraid that it was a permanent molar that was loose not knowing it was a baby molar. I'm glad we went in because now we will be on a four month watch to keep an eye on his teeth progress to prepare for braces at some point.
October 2016 Highlights:
Oh boy, Nathan discovered making fake farting noises. Of course with this new discovery and just being a boy, he was creating these sounds way too many times. I'm glad the phase quickly faded away.
Nana stayed at our house for a week to celebrate my first week of retirement! Nathan really enjoyed having special Nana time too! It was a nice treat to have her here for so long with us. Ranger photobombed Nathan posing with his cardboard dog house he made.
It was fun getting pumpkins ready for our front porch this fall. Nathan decided to carve his for the first time this year. He did really well and made a classic design choice.
Halloween costume of choice this year was a ninja! This black ninja knows his moves! We were out and about in our neighborhood for an hour and then he was ready to go back home to check out his candy stash.
Nathan started swimming lessons at the Y this month that goes through December. He's making great progress. What a little fish!
Clothes for cold weather months are now size 8 with shoe size 3! He is no longer in the younger boys clothing section. He moved up to the big boy section! I was worried about what the selection was going to be but it turned out there were lots of great shirts and pants to choose from. Some shirts are a little long in the arms but he for sure needed the length in his pants. He looks even more grown up now!
November 2016 Highlights:
There is now a big playground set in our neighborhood for all the kiddos around here. We went over to it for the first time this month. What fun equipment and kid friendly rubber mat flooring underneath. Nathan was such a monkey climbing all over everything - surprise, surprise! Here are a few pictures capturing the fun time burning off some energy.
Here is a typical evening of Nathan getting ready for bed..... He likes to style his hair and pose in the mirror (or for the camera). And you wonder why I chose the title for this posting?!
Thanksgiving was hosted at Nana and Papa's house this year. Just have a couple selfies to document this gobble gobble gathering.
On our route home we stopped to see Grandma and Papa for a while. Nathan had a blast building different creations with wood blocks. After he'd complete a building he would ask to get his picture taken with it then immediately destroy it to start building something different.
At the end of this month we had a chance to get our new and much bigger Christmas tree up before December arrives! Nathan was a great helper putting on the ornaments around the tree. I think his favorite ornaments are the ones that make music or sound. Nathan also helped put all the ornaments on the tree in his bedroom which are decorated with robots and aliens. So fun!
