I'm In Kindergarten Now!

So much to do, so little time.  Nathan sure keeps us busy and on our toes.  He also keeps our ears tuned as he always has something to tell us.  I can't believe how quickly these four months have gone by.  

August 2014 Highlights:
Mommy and Daddy met with Nathan's Kindergarten teacher.  For some silly reason I was nervous, probably because of the unknowns.  After we had sat down in the little chairs and talked about the school year with Nathan's new teacher I felt much better about the new world our son is about to enter.

On August 11, after several days of me trying to pull his tooth (his top left) but not making progress, Nathan ended up pulling it out on his own at daycare!!!!  The tooth fairy deposited $1.00!

On August 12, Nathan started his allergy shots.  Our goal is for him to be comfortable in the spring time when tree pollen is here.  We did not succeed after two years in a row with different medicines so we decided allergy shots was the best choice after we consulted with the allergy doctor.  He gets one shot in each arm, twice a week from now until the beginning of next year.  This is building his immune system up until he gets to maintenance.  Ones he gets to maintenance level, then he will only need to receive one shot every two to three weeks.

On August 14, Nathan started Kindergarten!  I can't believe that his first day of school has arrived. Both Mommy and Daddy took him into his classroom to wish him well on his first day and say our good-byes.  Nathan was very brave; Mommy made it to the car before crying.  Isaac encouraged me to take the day off from work which turned out to be a great idea.  Nathan told us after his first day of school, "I love Kindergarten".

On August 23, Nathan gets my attention at 3:30 am saying he has his tooth in his hand! Just that night after brushing his teeth, we checked to see how loose his teeth were (there are two loose teeth - top middle right and top left next to the void middle on the left) and I came to the conclusion then that the teeth were not ready to come out yet.  Boy was I wrong.  Nathan was so excited and awake after that.  We did a quick inspection, put the tooth in a glass of water to see if the tooth fairy has time for an emergency stop, then went back to bed.  Nathan said that he couldn't wait to show his kindergarten class.  Cute! The tooth fairy deposited a $1.00 for that crazy tooth episode. 

On August 29, this was a day of bravery- the first time Nathan didn't cry getting his allergy shots.  He is making great progress.  He was a brave boy!  Way to go Nathan. 

September 2014 Highlights:
We spent our Labor Day weekend with the Campbell's here at our house.  Papa rode his bicycle in the Hy-Vee Triathlon again this year. 

On September 10, after several days of Nathan's tooth just hanging there (literally), Mommy finally pulled the tooth!  The tooth this time was top middle (his right).  Seems like Nathan is loosing teeth left and right lately.  

Time to say "cheese" for school pictures.  School pictures were on September 11.  That's right, a toothless school picture to cherish forever.  This day also marks the first time Nathan chewed bubble gum.  He did really well.  It was kind of cute watching him chew his pink bubblegum.

Can you believe it?  Nathan is already learning to read.  He can read a handful of sight words.  Mommy and Daddy are so proud of him.  

October 2014 Highlights:
This whole month of October all Nathan would talk about was dressing up as Darth Vader for Halloween.  We purchased his costume several weeks before Halloween. Was that a mistake?  Because it seemed like at some point of every day you would find Nathan walking around the house wearing his Darth Vader mask and waving his red light saber around.  I also had to make a countdown calendar until Begger's Night because he kept asking when he would get to go trick-or-treating.  

Every year we like to paint and carve our pumpkins.  At first Nathan said he was going to carve his this year, but he decided to paint it instead.  Here are pictures from our pumpkin fun together.

Finally when the big night came, he was super excited.  Nathan did a great job telling his jokes door to door before picking a few pieces of candy.  He even came across another fellow Darth Vader (adult wearing the same costume).  Nathan was drawn to him; wanted to keep following him through the neighborhood.  It was hilarious!  Are you ready for this?  Here is Nathan as Darth Vader...finally!!!! Happy Halloween.

Fall is the best time of the year according to Nathan.  Here he is having a blast in the leaf pile Daddy created for him in the backyard. He got a little leafy so Daddy cleaned him off with the leaf blower. That was one way to do it...and it worked.  

November 2014 Highlights:
Once again, Nathan lost another tooth (a top tooth). Here is his toothless smile.

On November 11, Mommy and Daddy attending the first parent-teacher conference. Nathan is doing great academically which is a blessing.  But Nathan needs to work harder at paying attention and listening to his teachers at all times.  He needs to improve upon proper school behavior.  There are good days and bad days, but he is getting better and making progress.  

This month Nathan has been bringing home books from school that he gets to read to us. Each book is about eight pages long with one sentence on each page.  It's wonderful to hear him read. 

Nathan was so excited with the first snowfall of the season.  He bundled up and played outside longer than expected.  He even made us a snow angel.  When he came back inside the house, he quickly warmed up with some hot chocolate.  Yum!

  





















Daddy's work had an employee appreciation event at a local go-kart indoor track.  Nathan was brave enough to drive his own go-kart.  Look at him go!  He is fearless....and is growing up so fast.
