Growing Up So Fast

These past several months Nathan has changed so much. He is growing up so fast...

April 2014 Highlights:
Nathan had his 5 year well child checkup on April 3.  He weighed in at 47 lbs and at 3' 10 1/2" tall.  This put him in the 93 percentile for height and 78 percentile for weight.  He did really well getting two shots (one in each leg).  One more step getting ready for kindergarten.

He has been rhyming lately which has been fun to join in the learning fun.

Nathan likes to be helpful around the house.  He's my big helper getting the table set for dinner and transferring the clothes from the washer to the dryer.  He likes tossing in a Tide Pod into the washer for the next load to clean. He likes to help Daddy water plants outside with his own watering can.

We spent Easter weekend at Nana and Papa's house.  The Easter Bunny visited too and brought goodies!  Nathan had a lot of fun with coloring hard boiled eggs and finding eggs filled with jelly beans around the house.

Wow!  There's money inside the carrot!

May 2014 Highlights:
Nathan has been having trouble with his allergy to tree pollen. He has been completely miserable with itchy red swollen eyes.  We were proactive this year with medicine after discovering this allergy late last year but he is still suffering.  We will need to consider allergy shots for him.

Nathan is growing up so much.  We can see the change in his personality, especially when he is asked to do something.  He is more willing to obey versus throwing a fit about it first.

Time to buy summer clothes!  For the summer Nathan is wearing boy Size 5/6 shirts and shorts and his shoes are now Size 1.  Pretty soon his feet will be the size of Mommy's!

Nathan liked helping Daddy put together the plants in the flower pots for the season. He even has his own little trowel and pair of gloves.  Maybe someday Nathan will grow up with a "green thumb" like his Daddy.

On May 10, he had an eye appointment (another item to check off the kindergarten preparation list).  The eye doctor asked Nathan "Who made you so cute?" before she started the eye exam.  Nathan looked over at me bashfully and then back at his eye doctor and replied "Jesus".  Great answer buddy!  He had a great report, his eyes look good.  No glasses needed for school and his eye muscles are getting stronger.

For Memorial weekend Nana and Papa (Campbell) came to stay for the weekend as well as Uncle Brandon.  We had a great time together along with Uncle Tyler and Aunt Jamie!  Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

June 2014 Highlights:
One evening at dinner, Nathan was telling us a conversation he had with a friend at daycare/preschool.  He told his friend that he likes to dip his carrots in his applesauce.  His friend thought that was strange so Nathan replied to his friend "mind your own food".  We thought that was a hilarious story!

June 5 was preschool graduation night!  Nathan did great up on stage with his graduating class.  They sang several songs (the reason for the sunglasses in the first picture below) and the kids memorized The Pledge of Allegiance and held little American flags.  Each child took their turn walking across the stage to receive their "diploma" from the owner.  He waved to us and gave us bashful smiles from the stage.  He made us such proud parents...and yes there were tears, happy tears!

Nathan has been having us compare items; he would ask "Which do you like better?".  He wants us to choose between two of his Matchbox cars or two of his drawings, etc.

Summer fun with sidewalk chalk!

Time for family pictures!  We've had the same gal take our family pictures since Nathan was a baby.  Here are a few from the photo shoot this year.

July 2014 Highlights:
The 4th of July weekend we spent with Nana and Papa at their house.  We brought along Nathan's bike for him to have fun around the neighborhood.  He enjoyed his special time with Papa, riding bikes together.  It was a great weekend filled with relaxation and....fireworks!  Nathan enjoyed the sparklers more this year than last and loved the snaps - classic!  He was so excited to see the firework show Papa put together for the family that evening.

We got out Daddy's old Legos from when he was a kid.  Nathan LOVES playing with them.  There are lots of Lego sets that Daddy has spent many evenings and weekend with Nathan putting them all together.  Nathan is all smiles!  He is for sure a Lego boy now!  He does a great job building some of the smaller sets all by himself.

At bedtime, Nathan has asked me several different nights if he could take his pajama shirt off when he's ready to go to sleep.  I think he wants to be like his Daddy at bedtime.  It's pretty darn cute!

On July 23 we spent the day at Adventureland.  Nathan sure loves roller coasters!  We rode on several different rides but the roller coaster was his favorite.  This year we rode the Raging River along with Uncle Aaron, Aunt Jackie, and cousin Jaidyn. Nathan escaped getting soaked...but not Mommy!  Nathan is tall enough to drive the bumper cars himself.  He had trouble working the steering wheel and the "gas" pedal, so Mommy helped with going forward and Nathan, well... ended up making us go in circles several times.  It was a beautiful day to spend outside.

Topping the day off with a bag of cotton candy!

Nathan's top two middle teeth are loose!  Wonder when the tooth fairy will visit again?

We went school supply shopping for Kindergarten.  Nathan is super excited about his new "Planes" theme book bag.  I think he enjoyed help pick out the colors for his notebooks, folders, scissors, etc.  Something else to help get him excited about Kindergarten.

For some reason, Nathan has been talking about infinity a lot!!!  The only thing I can think to where this came from is The Lego Movie.  He just can't stop referencing something to the infinity. He doesn't understand the full meaning of the word, but at the same time it's kind of cute.
