I Can Spell My Name!

February 2013 Highlights:
Since Nathan received several games for Christmas and birthday, I thought it would be a good idea to start a weekly family game night for the three of us.  I'm glad we started this because it's great practice for Nathan to understand to be patient and wait his turn.  We have a fun time together playing Cooties, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Memory, or Sneaky Snacky Squirrel.  

For Valentine's Day Nathan received the Pixar movie 'Up' and book 'Love, Splat' by Rob Scotton.  One time at the bookstore together we discovered the book 'Secret Agent Splat' - a story about a cute black cat named Splat.  The stories and illustrations are adorable so I found a Valentine book that was perfect for Valentine's Day (of course).  This one cracks me up every time I read it because Splat falls in love with a white cat named Kitty.  Every night at bedtime we read one or two books; so Mommy enjoys a new one to the mix every once in a while.

March 2013 Highlights:
For St. Patrick's Day we made little green M&M treats for all 21 of his friends at daycare!  Here is Nathan posing with the treats he was excited about.  For some reason his winter wardrobe did not contain a single shirt with green in it; so I let him wear a jammie shirt with jeans that day.  That works, right?!

Nathan's ability to color and draw has changed so much lately.  He is staying near the lines in coloring books and he draws objects instead of scribbles on a page.  I loved to color when I was a little girl (and still do) so I can see the two of us coloring many times together at the kitchen table.  Fun!  Nathan is also getting better at writing his own name - and he can spell out his name!

Nathan had been asking about Buzz Lightyear ever since he received Woody for his birthday from Grandma and Papa.  We thought Easter would be a good time to get Woody's pal.  Buzz was sitting in Nathan's Easter basket wearing bunny ears!  Nathan had so much fun searching for Easter eggs that were hiding around the family room downstairs.

April 2013 Highlights:
Nathan was invited to a pirate themed birthday party at the zoo.  He was so excited to get dressed up like a pirate.  He was adorable giving us the "stink-eye" and walking around saying "Arrr matey"!  Nathan is wearing Uncle Tyler's shirt from his Halloween costume when he was in grade school.  Thank you Nana for keeping old costumes!  

Every night when Nathan gets ready for bed he has to get out a pile (previously approved my Mommy otherwise it would be way more) of stuffed animal friends to sleep with for the night.  At first he would just lay them in is bed on either side of his pillow, but now the routine has shifted to lining up each animal so they can see and listen to the bedtime story.  Don't dare to lean up against or cover up some of the stuffed animal friends because then they can't see!  Here is a sweet picture of Nathan sleeping all snuggled in his bed with "1,000" stuffed animals.  Sweet dreams!
