* Nathan will show you where his tummy is if asked; he will either lift up his shirt to show you or pat on his tummy if his outfit doesn't allow tummy exposure. Nathan can blow great kisses and it's cute when sometimes he does it in the wrong order (blows on his hand before releasing from his mouth). He rides forward now on his bulldozer and car (walkers/riders). Sometimes instead of crawling down the stairs he slides down on his tummy which increases his speed going down (ahhhh!). He imitates wiping the floor with a cloth as if he's cleaning (like Mommy) or rubs his hands together when I apply hand sanitizer on my hands in the car.
* He loves books and enjoys being read to (sometimes it's the same book over and over again). He likes to pick out a book to read and sits on your lap. He does well pointing out the different objects on the pages that he is asked to find. Nathan's vocabulary is increasing even more. He can say bubble, airplane, hello, amen, and 'another one'. I'm sure there are more but these come to mind first.
* We added a couple things to Nathan's bedtime routine - giving a kiss goodnight and saying a prayer before bed. It's cute watching Nathan give Daddy a kiss on the cheek. He gently touches his lips to Daddy's cheek without lip movement or sound effects. We say a little prayer before going to sleep at night and it's so sweet when he puts his hands together.
* There is no more baby food of any kind in the cupboards. Nathan is enjoying the endless variety of table foods except for most meats and veggies which remain to be troublesome. It's difficult at times when food is being rejected by him but at least we are still acquiring tastes. He does great drinking from a straw.
* A few new firsts: He had his first official kids meal on August 23 when Nathan and I ate supper with Daddy at his office (late night working). He sat on a desk chair while eating from his fries and chicken strip little bags all by himself; with no wiggling around. Nathan's first visit to the zoo was when our family went to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo (August 14). He enjoyed the animals until the heat was a little too much plus the lack of napping that day got to him, then he just cruised along quietly in his stroller.
* No change in sizes of clothing, diapers, or shoes yet. A few more shirts no longer fit so the 24 month old clothes pile has started in the closet. We were really curious as to how much he weighed especially since his next doctor's appointment isn't until he is two. So we put our little man on the bathroom scale. He weighed in at 27 pounds; he sure feels much heavier while holding him though.
Enjoy the pictures below of Nathan (aka Mr. Happy). This shirt is special because Isaac (Daddy) brought this home as a present for Nathan when he was in China in the spring. There is another one like it as Mr. Bump.
