15 Months Old

Nathan is walking! He has walked up to eleven steps all on his own. Nathan usually takes steps of three often, then realizes he can get to his destination faster by crawling. He does great walking while holding onto one hand of an adult. These 15 months have gone by so fast and Nathan is becoming more and more a little boy with a great personality!

* It's entertaining to watch Nathan walking/crawling on his hands and feet. He first started doing this when spending time in the bathroom getting dressed after his bath. He quickly discovered he could get away from me walking on his hands and feet not feeling too much of the tile floor. He likes to do this quite a bit now, even on carpet.

* Nathan is saying more sounds. He says Dada all the time and kitty when he sees our cats Tigger and Daisy. He says Mama too, but not very often. He has been making a cute repeated sound when he wants something. The best way to describe this sound is a little puppy whining.

* He is really interested in his books. Nathan enjoys looking through the hard page books on his own flipping pages, opening and closing the books, and making a mess of them on the floor. He has started to point at pictures on the pages. He just loves the little hard page book of 'Counting Farm'; he will sit still every time this book is read to him and making animal sounds on each page. Is it sad that I have it memorized? "One rooster, two speckled hens, three little chicks in the poultry pen. Four ducks, five brown cows, six little pigs and a mother sow. Seven white sheep, eight black crows, nine little lambs skipping on their toes. And playing in the hay at the back of the barn, there are ten little mice on counting farm." Ta da!

* It's cute to watch Nathan play, especially when he is laying on the floor on his tummy. When I see him like this, he looks like a big boy playing nicely with his toys. He also likes to touch your nose so I thought it would be a good time to point out the different parts of the face. He seems to enjoy this. Sometimes when I touch his nose I say "honk" and he just laughs.

* Unfortunately we are experiencing some temper tantrums! Yes that's right Nathan, I'm telling on you! When he doesn't get his way about something he flops around and throws his head back and forth. He is so strong and it's hard sometime so prevent him from hurting himself. You actually may see in a few of the pictures below a nice little bruise on the middle of his forehead after a episode of being upset.

* Nathan has another tooth on the bottom (his left next to the middle pair). Very soon the tooth on the opposite side will be showing through his gums.

* He loves to look outside through a window or sliding door. He is getting a taste for the outdoors already now that it's starting to warm up outside. He has spent a little time on the deck at Grandma and Grandpa's house and gone for a short stroll to get the mail during the work week. I think it will be a race between Nathan and Daisy on who can make it though the sliding door first this summer.

* Nathan is wearing 18 month size clothes and size four diapers (but as soon as these are gone we're moving up to size five). Nathan is on the same eating schedule and trying more table foods. It's frustrating at times when he will enjoy a few bites of something and then want nothing to do with it the rest of the meal. This is definitely a matter of patience..... But he is doing well.

Here are some pictures of Nathan at 15 months old. I have to admit that he was kind of tired the evening of March 23 so the pictures that only really made him smile is when he was in the bath tub.
