Nothing But Nathan: Twelve Months Old

I think it's hard for everyone to believe a year has flown by already, that Nathan is one year old! The night we went to the hospital to the day Nathan came home are all still so very clear to me. It has been a wonderful and amazing year for both Isaac and I. Nathan is such a great little boy. We are so very blessed.

Nathan continues to do great, be happy, and stay healthy. Here's what he's been up to:

* Nathan pulls himself up to about anything now and swiftly gets down on either his bottom or on one knee. He will even bend down to pick up a toy and stand back up; sometimes holding on one handed with a toy in the other. We think by the end of January he may be making is first steps! Sometimes he folds his arms together like he's pondering something and showing how much he's a big boy. He can clap his hands together, enjoys playing peek-a-boo, and laughs when chasing Mommy or Daddy around the house. Unfortunately he has discovered how to spit and climb up the stairs but we are working on stopping these. Nathan will dance in place to music while sitting on the floor and rock back and forth holding his arms out.

* The Christmas tree wasn't an issue...this year anyway. He was good about leaving it alone; probably because our hang out spot is in another part of the house. He enjoys looking at the ornaments and lights. He really smiles at the Hoops and Yoyo ornament (by Hallmark) that has a few clips of these two characters talking in cartoon voices.

* He's wearing all twelve month size clothes and still in size four diapers. His feeding schedule has remained the same but we are increasing amounts of table food. He is a good little eater and enjoys different foods he is given. He is doing great with feeding himself (right handed) pieces of bread, cheese, cracker, banana, rice, pasta, etc. Nathan also takes a sippy cup well but there is still the occasional too big of a drink and getting himself all wet.

* Nathan had his one year checkup at the doctor's on December 30. He had a great report weighing in at 20 lbs 10 ozs and 29" in height. He is in the 25th percentile for his height and weight on a full term baby chart. At his 15 month checkup we'll consider cow's milk but until now remain on formula and gradually increase more table food to his diet.

* We celebrated Nathan's birthday with the Wiese family on December 20 and again on his actual birthday (December 23) with the Campbell family in Columbus, Nebraska for Christmas. He wasn't too sure about all the attention and tasting cake and ice cream for the first time but he is definitely enjoying his new toys.
