* Nathan sometimes flaps his arms in excitement while sitting on the floor or rocks back and forth on his hands and knees like a bucking bronco. He makes me think of a little birdie when he flaps is arms. One thing that gets him excited is when he sees his cousins, especially Maegan and Ethan since Nathan no longer goes to Lori for "daycare". Lori is expecting their third child early February and decided it would be best to no longer watch Nathan. My mother-in-law, Denise, is watching him now. This started November 2 and has been a easy transition.
* He continues to be on the move crawling all over the house. He can pull himself up to furniture or a toy now. He just started to move his feet closer to the object he's holding onto but this is a work in progress.
* Recently Nathan has been making more sounds; not just the "aaah" sound in every variation. He's working on "ba ba ba", "rrrr", "mmm", "ya ya ya", and "ga ga". It's so fun to hear these new sounds from him! Maybe by Christmas we'll hear "da da" or "ma ma"?
* We sometimes find Nathan making cute faces when playing with his teeth. His top two teeth are coming in nicely and I've captured a picture (below). Speaking of teeth, when I'm feeding Nathan he likes to bite down on the spoon when I'm not expecting it. My hand pulls away but the spoon stays in his mouth.
* Nathan's feeding schedule hasn't changed too much. He has increased to a full 4oz jar of fruit at lunch and supper in addition to rice cereal, a veggie, and a bottle. We have been working on eating tender pieces to get him use to foods other than just smooth texture from baby food. He isn't so sure about the 3rd level of baby food with tender pieces but he enjoys eating little pieces of wheat bread. So far he has also tried broccoli and mashed potatoes. Nathan enjoys the Gerber Graduate Fruit Puffs. I've been breaking the puffs into smaller pieces because he struggles with them whole, even though the puffs dissolve. I need to get myself in a routine now at supper time to set aside table food for him to try that isn't seasoned, buttered, etc.
* He is wearing 12 month size clothes and surprisingly still a few outfits that are 9 months. Nathan is wearing size three diapers but we recently purchased size four that he is ready for now. We still need the night time diapers to keep him dry through the night.
* Nathan has been to the church nursery at Johnston Evangelical Free Church two times now. He doesn't seem to have a hard time like his Mommy does. It was especially hard the first time but he is so wiggly and noisy in church now. We feel bad being a possible distraction to others. We can now concentrate on the sermon while he gets to play in the nursery and spend time with other little ones.
* He is a very easy going baby and is happy most of the time; however there are moments when he gets upset. For instance, when we take away something he shouldn't be playing with (mortgage bill) he will stick out his lower lip and start to cry. He just loves paper for some reason! It only take a second or two and a nice magazine is crumpled and torn up, not to mention soggy!
* Nathan loves to play in the bath tub with two bath squirt floating fish and octopus and plastic color chains (he swishes them around in the water really fast). He sometimes gets upset when it's time to get out of the tub too.
Here are pictures of Nathan at 11 months.
