Nathan enjoyed finding what the Easter Bunny left in his basket on Easter morning. Later that morning we went to Nebraska to spend the day with the Wiese family. As always, Nathan loves playing with his cousins.
Nathan lost an upper tooth this month. He does not do well with loosing teeth. He doesn't want anyone to touch or wiggle a loose tooth of his. Nathan has a stomach like his Dad...anything medical related makes him feel queasy.
Some time last year Nathan came up with a game to play while riding in the car. It's called 'The Bus Game'! How to play: You call out every bus that you see by shouting the word "Bus!". You cannot double-bus by saying "Bus" to the same bus. Warning: The buses are "loaded" with pencils, erasers, and cheese balls that "shoot" toward your vehicle as you drive by. Insert your own sound effects for the projectile items coming from a bus.
Nathan's school music concert was in April. After styling his hair and putting his belt on, Dad gave him a spritz of cologne. Nathan checked himself out in the bathroom mirror and said, "I hope the girls don't notice me!". What a little stud! Several of Nathan's grandparent were able to attend his concert that night with us.
We enjoy spending a lot of time in our newly finished basement. It's fun to play games, spread out a puzzle, or just watch TV while having the fireplace on. One of Nathan's favorite things to do is to build a blanket fort under the game table. Of course, a blanket fort requires lots of stuffed animals, a couple flash lights, a few books, and a pillow.
Since Nathan is still having a hard time from losing our cat Daisy back in November, I came up with the idea of purchasing a stuffed animal cat for Nathan to hold (or squeeze) whenever he feels sad. This was a huge help...and he has less tears now. Here Nathan is introducing his new plush cat that he picked out himself....named Daisy!
We celebrated Nathan's AWANA accomplishments by completing his first year of T and T (Truth and Training). He was so excited to earn his medal; and wore it proudly that night. It was nice to have Nana join us in the celebration too.
There's no time like spring time to take a trip to the zoo! We joined his Wiese grandparents for a zoo visit in Omaha. It was a nice cool spring day. Usually we go to the zoo in the blazing summer heat so this was a good change in the weather. The giraffes and penguins are a couple of Nathan's favorite animals at the zoo.

It's clothes shopping time! This summer Nathan will be wearing size medium in boys shirts along with boys size small/8 for shorts. He also got new pajama shorts this year.
This month, it was fun viewing Nathan's art at school during the art show. He always enjoys sharing the things he has made and pointing out fun things around his school. He definitely has a creative side in him!
Here are Nathan and I on Mother's Day. I love you to the moon and back Nathan. I hope that one day you will appreciate this blog and enjoy all the collected memories and write ups about your younger years. No matter how old you get, you will always be my baby boy!
Ranger was hanging out with us on the deck one evening. I happened to capture a sweet moment of Nathan with our cat in the setting sun!
For Memorial Day we invited Nana over for dinner since Papa was working that night. We enjoyed grilling out for dinner at our place and hanging out on the patio. It was a beautiful evening. That same weekend, as a family, we went to see 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' at the theater. Nathan is a big Star Wars fan!
June 2018 Highlights:
Our church held a foam party to celebrate the end of the school year. Nathan had a blast getting covered, then soon soaked with foam. He was having the time of his life. Summer is now here foam boy!
Here are my boys on Father's Day! Shortly after this picture was taken, they enjoyed attacking each other with squirt guns! Is that not a typical boy thing to do, or what?
Nathan learned how to play Settlers of Catan for the first time. This is a favorite game here at our house so it was fun teaching Nathan how to play it. He did a good job...and won with a little assistance.
This house is always full of entertainment with Nathan being goofy doing one thing or another. One day a guest arrived at our house. Greetings from Dr. Boog E (that is Doctor Boog, pause briefly, E), the Fashion Designer. He had this hilarious voice when he was speaking. How does he comes up with this stuff? I kick myself for not taking a video to capture the goofiness completely but these pictures sum him up well.
There's nothing better then having a summer s'mores night around the firepit. He was having a good time hanging out with his parents and grandparents staying up past his bedtime! What a yummy sticky treat!
July 2018 Highlights:
Our plans to have all the Campbell's over for the 4th of July quickly changed due to our basement flooding and Nana getting into a bad bicycle accident (all happened on the same day, July 1). Despite these upsetting events, the three of us made the best of the holiday. We filled grenade water balloons and had a little "water war" to cool off on this hot holiday. Nathan loved playing with the sparklers at night and we had quite a firework show thanks to a neighbor down the street.
All third graders at Nathan's school had a cabbage project to grow a baby cabbage plant over the summer months to see how big it can get before fourth grade begins. Nathan enjoyed watching the cabbage grow. He helped with watering but a big shout out goes to Dad who watered it regularly and gave it plant protection to keep the bugs away. In the end, the cabbage weighed 3 1/2 pounds. Nathan had fun cutting it up and inspecting the head of the cabbage. Afterwards, he tossed the plant parts in the prairie for the family of rabbits to eat.
We had a great time together while Dad was on vacation for a week from work. It was a busy week filled with camping (not me!), swimming at Uncle Aaron's pool, going to Adventureland, watching 'The Incredibles 2' at the movies, and eating a yummy breakfast at Hy-Vee. We made some great memories together this summer!
August 2018 Highlights:
Nathan fished for the very first time while he was at his best friend's birthday party. He not only caught one fish, but three! He was super excited to share his fishing experience when we picked him up. We don't think he realizes that it doesn't happen like this every time you fish; sometimes you catch nothing! There was no squashing his excitement on this great day!
Throughout this month he lost two teeth on the bottom! On came out when we were walking in a parking lot. The other had more drama to it - he woke up one morning with the tooth resting inside his mouth. He was grossed out about it for a while but was soon distracted with breakfast and cartoons. He asked if the tooth fairy would still visit - of course!
Before summer came to an end, Nathan spent several days with his Wiese grandparents at their house along with his cousin Ethan. They had so much fun together building a tank, airplane, and dragon with the big Lego blocks. Nathan also enjoyed his special time with Grandpa riding bikes together.
He was having mixed feelings about school starting - was both excited and nervous about the new school year. Once he got his new backpack and visited the school on Meet The Teacher day, he was ready to rock on into 4th grade! Here is Nathan on the first day of school. He looks so grown up.
September 2018 Highlights:
It's great to have a park/playground in our neighborhood. We make an effort to walk there when the weather is nice. There are trails throughout the neighborhood to get to the park that make it very easy to walk or ride a bike, not to mention the nice exercise you get from your stroll around the neighborhood.
When Nathan comes home from school, he'll have a snack and complete his homework for the day. Afterwards, here is a typical picture of Nathan cuddling up with a stuffed animal, a blanket, and his iPad with Ranger close by before dinner.
Fall and winter clothes shopping is upon us! This kid grows like a weed. His dresser drawers now hold size medium long sleeve shirts, size 12 jeans (slim style is a must), and 4.5 size shoes. I can't believe that I can put my feet in his new shoes! And, when holding his new pants up to my waist, they look like cropped jeans on me!
Have you ever thought to play Battleship like this? After a game together, Nathan was still playing with the board pieces. He surprised us with the hearts design he made. How clever and so sweet!
