It's amazing that Nathan is almost two years old! I feel I need to document every detail about our little boy because time is going by so fast right before our eyes. The daily trips to the NICU to stay with him are still so very clear to me. It also feels like I just posted his 22 month write-up and now another month has passed by. Here are a few more things about Nathan now that he is 23 months old (November 23, 2010).
* It's really cute to watch Nathan shrug his shoulders or walk around stiff armed with his blanket wrapped around him like a cape. He likes to match the same objects (example: find multiple John Deere logos on Papa's [Monte] "tractor" or paw prints on my cross-stitch prints in the laundry room). The fun days are approaching to play the Memory game together! Nathan will also play peek-a-boo by hiding his face with both hands. He discovered this fun version from his cousin Jaidyn.
* He has all four cuspid teeth now; the bottom left one was the last to surface. When he smiles you see a full set of teeth but the back molars are yet to come. Nathan had his first ear infection (right ear) on November 19th. We discovered that the antibiotic he was prescribed, he is allergic to (switched from Amoxicillin to Zithromax).
* He told our cat Daisy a repeated "no" when she wanted to play with his hacky sack ball. He says "oh no", "I know", and heard him say "sorry" once. Nathan pronounces apples correctly now (instead of appie). When he tells you he wants something he points and says "ooh ya" repeatedly. When offered something and the answer is yes he will make an excited laugh, but if he doesn't want what is offered he will say "no". The word no is still used both ways. Maybe the next word to work on is the word yes. That would sound so much nicer than the word no too!
* I didn't want to believe in the so called "Terrible Two's" but I'm leaning more towards that this does exist. Nathan is such a good little boy but when he gets upset, he really gets upset by throwing a fit stiffening his body and seems unbearable at times. We hope that this phase is short lived.
* On Thanksgiving our family was playing the card game named Pit. The object is to trade different commodities with one another to collect one set. In order to trade you announce loudly the number of cards to trade in hopes of adding more of the set you want to collect. It's a rather loud but fun and entertaining game. To Nathan all he hears is shouting of numbers - "Two, two, two" or "One, one one, anyone one" or "Three, three, trade three with me". Nathan caught onto the rules and was enjoying coming up to the table and saying "two, two" to us. It was hilarious...and rather cute.
Here are some pictures of Nathan now at 23 months old. Enjoy!
He just loves this puppy, carries him around a lot and hugs him.
He was saying "cheese" for the camera!
Getting bundled up in the morning to go to Grandma's house for the day.
Ribbit!
