21 Months Old

Nathan turned twenty one months old on September 23, 2010. Our little boy is fast approaching two years old which seems unreal to us as parents. Nathan is a very busy and growing boy so here is what he has been up to lately.

* Nathan will sometimes pat your back when giving hugs. He likes to spin in circles (talk about dizzy), hang upside down (oh what a head rush), and jumps (cute little froggy jumps). It was so sweet when he gave me an unexpected kiss on the lips September 21 when I was getting him ready for the day. What a little sweetie!

* He said "hi daddy" once and says "yummy" especially when eating something he really likes. Nathan is a very polite little boy; he says "Mommy" and "thank you" often. When he should reply "you're welcome" he will say "thank you". It's adorable! The word "no" has unfortunately entered his vocabulary now. He also says "hi" even to our little girl neighbor next door when she's outside (and sometimes when she's not) or to the checker at the grocery store - repeatedly saying "hi, hi, hi". When he hears kids in the neighborhood that are not in view he will say "hi" loudly.

* Trucks, buses, and airplanes are getting his attention. According to Nathan, anything that has a motor is an airplane. He will even argue with you. For example: Nathan will announce that the lawn mower across the street is an airplane. We correct him by saying "No, that's a lawn mower". Nathan will immediately reply "airplane". We repeat, "No lawn mower". And so on!

* We discovered from our very rainy year during a few storms in the daytime that Nathan is a little afraid of thunder. This was surprising to us but it makes sense since most storms had occurred at night when he would sleep through them. It just took a little comforting and reassuring to perk Nathan back up and back to playing again.

* Our little boy is always on the go, playing, talking, being cute, laughing and having fun but he's not 100% fun all the time due to his temper! I'm really hoping that we are going through a pre 'terrible twos' phase so when he turns two he'll be all angel. Right? Well I know that is unrealistic but we are looking forward to this phase going away.

* Nathan is now wearing size 2T shirts, size 24 month pants, and size 8 shoes from our recent clothes shopping purchases. The pants are even too long that they need to be rolled up a bit at the bottom and are a little loose around the waist but these will be great to grow into this fall and winter. He is still wearing size 5 diapers for day and night. Slowly more and more baby and little boy things around the house are being put away in storage such as the high chair we recently put downstairs. Nathan now sits at the table with us on a booster seat with tray.
