13 Months Old

Nathan is becoming less of a baby and more a little boy. Here's a write up of what our little cruiser is up to at thirteen months old!

* Nathan can crawl fast up the stairs. He likes to claps his hands together, then enjoys hearing "Yeah, Nathan" after he claps. He can wave bye-bye with a big smile on his face. Nathan is doing great cruising along furniture; at first it was tiny steps but now he walks along furniture quickly. Nathan loves playing chase around the house; he crawls away or crawls towards Mommy or Daddy (laughing the whole time). Sometimes Nathan has giggle spells rolling and flopping around on the floor while laughing. He enjoys pushing a toy away from him, crawls up to it, pushes it forward again, then repeats this over and over - it's like he's playing fetch with himself and is really cute to watch. Nathan is also getting into cupboards like crazy and pulling items out. The cabinet doors under the kitchen sink are safely locked now.

* He's picking up on separation; when I'm dropping him off at Grandma's in the morning to go to work he knows that I'm soon to leave and reaches for me when Grandma Denise is holding him. At least he isn't crying when I leave.

* Nathan is starting to repeat sounds and really pay attention to what adults do. When you click your tongue once, Nathan will repeat you. This fun game can go on for a few minutes. He is saying "da da da" and "ma ma ma" more often. But right now I think "da da da" is more pronounced than "ma ma ma". When I pick him up for the evening he sometimes calls me da da da with a big smile.

* Another tooth (upper left) is slowly making it's appearance; this will then make tooth number five. We have switched from Similac NeoSure (22 cal) to Similac Advance (20 cal) in preparation for cow's milk that will be evaluated at his 18 month checkup. Nathan has made the formula switch without any problems and does great drinking from a sippy cup. He gradually switched from the bottle to sippy cup over a period of weeks "testing" at different meal times. He can now comfortably drink from a sippy cup at any meal or snack. Yeah! Nathan is fast approaching the need for 18 month size clothes; jammies are the most noticeable right now(needing length and more room for his toes).

Now for the pictures. Enjoy!

Grabbing another toy out of his his NEW toybox.
Thanks Grandpa & Grandma Wiese!

He just loves this "hammer" that goes to one of his toy sets.
